Drilling operations are complex and can present challenges due to high pressure, high temperature, and sour reservoirs. To help with these challenges in Kuwait, Halliburton Boots & Coots collaborates with the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) for emergency response and well control services.
This collaboration comes at a critical time as KOC faces several operational challenges at the Jurassic carbonate reservoirs. Boots & Coots supports KOC to manage the unique operational challenges associated with complex reservoir conditions and collaborates with KOC teams to optimize well control and emergency preparedness strategies.
This contract strengthens the long collaboration between KOC and Boots & Coots in the Northern Gulf Region.
Boots & Coots approaches these operational risks with a comprehensive prevention and preparedness strategy. The collaboration emphasizes well kill operations and on-site standby in problematic zones. This involves field visits to assess and prepare rig equipment, mud pumps, and other systems to handle well-control challenges safely. Boots & Coots helps KOC perform required periodic rig equipment audits, update emergency response plans, and prepare staff to serve as first responders for well-control incidents.
“This achievement expands Halliburton’s footprint and customer base for many years to come,” says Gary Barbee, general manager, Halliburton Boots & Coots. “Boots & Coots offers the most complete risk management and mitigation package available in the industry and looks forward to a successful collaboration with KOC.”
